We met last night at the home of Nancy Nay and discussed some wonderful books and enjoyed some delicious homemade strawberry shortcake.
Here is the list of books that were read and presented:
SARA TRIVEDI
“Love and Gelato” by Jenna Evans Welsch (A fun, quick read)
“These Is My Words”, “Sarah’s
Quilt”, “The Star Garden” a trilogy by Nancy E. Turner which are stories based
on her great-grandmother’s diary in Arizona Territory late 1800’s, early 1900’s. (Highly recommended. Beautifully written.)
KATHARINE PONZCOCH
“Salt To The Sea” by Ruta Sepetys
Author of “Between Shades of Gray”
“Mormon Feminism: Essential Writings” by Joanna Brooks (A very interesting broad view from different writers.)
NANCY NAY
“Housekeeping” “Gilead”* “Home” & “Lila” by Marilynne
Robinson (*Nancy’s favorite. A wonderful insight into Christian thinking.Very beautifully written.)
BETH HEDENGREN
“My Beautiful World” by Sonia Sotomayor (Autobiography of the Supreme Court justice and her path to success.)
MARYANN STEVENS
“The Temple and the Atonement”, essays by M. Katherine
Thomas, Truman Madsen and Donald Perry. (Her favorite was by Donald Perry: “The
Garden of Eden: Prototype Sanctuary”.
“All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Maria Remarque
“Lady of Light” by Kathleen Morgan
“Resurrection Row” by Anne Perry
“No Graves Yet” by Anne Perry (Writer of Victorian murder mysteries)
GERI CHRISTENSEN:
“An Incomplete Revenege” (Maisie Dobbs Book #5) by Jacqueline Winspear (A very good read.)
“Flowers In Rain” by Rosamunde Pilcher (Wonderful short stories by this favorite author)
“Mrs. Polifax On Safari” by Dorothy Gilman (Delighfully fun read.)
“Sparkling Cyanide” by Agatha Christie (True to form murder mystery. Very fun an an audio book.)
We will meet again next month on the 4th Thursday at Maryann Stevens' home.
