APRIL BOOKSHARE

Hello, Book Lovers!

Last night we met at the home of Liz Orton and had a wonderful evening talking about the books we have recently read. Liz treated us with some delicious apricot-orange homemade ice cream. Here are the books that we discussed:

“Forever and Forever” by Josi S. Kilpack -  (Story of the courtship of Henry W. Longfellow and Fanny Appleton)

‘The House On Mango Street” by Sandra Cisneros

MARYANN STEVENS:

“The Eagle and the Raven” by James Mitchner – (a narrative history about Santa Ana and Sam Houston.)

“Daughter of Joy” and “Woman of Grace” by Kathleen Morgan – (based in a town east of Colorado Springs. Faith-based romances set in 1890’s.)

“The Shell Seekers” and “Another View” by Rosamunde Pilcher – absolutely wonderful books.

“Trains and Lovers” by Alexander McCall Smith – (a delightful easy-to-read book.)

“A Touch of Stardust” by Kate Allcott  - (about a woman from Kansas who wants to go to Hollywood and become a movie producer.)

“Homeland” by  Barbara Hamby – (set in the Civil War both in Tennessee and in Maine who exchange letters during the war. You see war from a woman’s view and the privations they endured.)

“Discover Your Type of Beauty—Dressing Your Truth” by Carol Tuttle

“The Story of Jesus – National Geographic” – (a special edition that is a historical view of Jesus Christ.)

NANCY NAY

GERI CHRISTENSEN:

“Only Time Will Tell” by Jeffrey Archer (First installment of “The Clifton Chronicles”, a family saga that spans several generations. Very well written.)

“Emily of Deep Valley” by Maud Hart Loveless – The Betsey Tasey Series.
